Photovoltaic energy in Chile: 58 MWp provided by X-elio and Grupo Ortiz

  • This will be Grupo Ortiz’s second photovoltaic plant in Chile under the EPC contracting arrangement.

“X-elio”-a company that develops and operates photovoltaic solar farms all over the world- has chosen Grupo Ortiz to carry out the “La Cruz solar” project under the EPC contracting arrangement.

This new photovoltaic plant in Chile will have an installed power of 57.7 MWp and over 130,000 modules.

Grupo Ortiz will carry out the engineering, construction, commissioning and maintenance of the solar farm over a 3 year period. The contract also includes the energy transmission and distribution (T&D) infrastructures.

On this occasion, bifacial panels will be used, glass/glass, Mono PERC, and trackers, assembled on a single axis solar tracking structure. The plant is estimated to produce around 150 GWh of electricity per year when it is operating by the middle of next year, the equivalent of the energy consumption of 50 thousand homes.
